Practice Description

Algos Behavioral Health Services opened business in 2005 here in San Antonio as a behavioral health practice to help individuals who were managing to live with chronic pain. The psychologists identified that there was a need for behavioral health services to assist physicians and patients in learning to manage the emotional side effects of various chronic health conditions. Since then, the clinicians at Algos BHS have helped numerous individuals cope with the emotional distress that often accompanies many chronic health conditions, including chronic pain, cancer, weight struggles, dementia, and traumatic brain injury (TBI). We work closely with physicians and surgeons to help identify the contributing factors to their emotional distress so we can develop an effective treatment plan that will improve their quality of life. Algos has a team of dedicated clinicians and staff who seek to help individuals find solutions to their problem areas in life. We provide behavioral health evaluations for those seeking specific surgeries that may entail risky procedures and outcomes so the individual will obtain the most benefits from the surgical procedure and experience improvement in their functioning. We also provide diagnostic evaluations for individuals seeking to identify what is contributing to their difficulties in daily living, whether it is a mental health condition or a neurological condition. We also provide mental health therapy sessions so we can discuss their problem areas and find solutions to improve their experience of life and living. Our goal is to lead the individual in their exploration of finding how to not only live, but to thrive.
