About

Everyone wants to live in the light of understanding themselves and others. But we live in a world shrouded in darkness and dysfunction that prevents us from being healthy and having healthy relationships. This darkness causes trauma and frustration in understanding ourselves and others that we care about. It shows up as communication breakdowns, broken trust, emotional distance, lack of love, constant strife, and temptations to harm your relationships from within.  The grief, disappointment, and sorrow that comes from living in the dark isn't necessary. There's a better way, and I want to help you find it. Luminous Christian Counseling exists to help you address the darkness and dysfunction from a Christian and Biblical Worldview, then turn the lights on and lead you toward the clarity, peace, and fulfillment that God's light and love has for you. Jesus promised in John 16:33 that "In this world, you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world." Psalm 119:105 says "Thy word (the Bible) is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path."

Bibliography

Hello, there! I’m Bernie Wright. I’ve grown up in Dallas, Texas for most of my life, so I’m actually a Dallas football fan that lives in Texas. My dad is from New York and my mom is from Texas, so my accent sounds kind of strange at times. I love eating good food with good friends, playing games with my family, listening to worship music and video game soundtracks, and reading books about Christian living. I really enjoy my local church friends, and I’m glad that my family knows other Christian families in different stages of life and faith that we get to spend time with as well. I’ve been married to my bride for 13 years and we have a fourth child on the way. My kids love screen time a little too much like their dad, but they love reading books like their mom, so I’m pretty sure they’ll be ok. Growing up, I knew that I wanted a great marriage. But at some point, I realized that wasn't going to happen by just winging it. Statistically speaking, divorce rates were getting higher, two parent households were becoming rarer, and my own family of origin had so many marriage problems, you would've thought dysfunction and divorce was a family trait. So long story short, I was determined to find a better way. I learned what the Bible had to say about God's relationship with us, and how often aspects of that relationship are reflected back in marriage. I read a lot of books from Christian and secular authors, studied marriage and family therapy, and ultimately learned that marriage is hard work, but it's good work. But with good work comes a great harvest. Certified Saving Your Marriage Before It Starts Facilitator Amberton University - Dallas Baptist University Texas LPC Associate - License #91882
